Stuart Sucherman

His name is on the door for a good reason. Throughout the media and entertainment industry, the name Sucherman is synonymous with integrity, trust, wisdom, foresight, and success. Stuart’s ethics and values form the bedrock of the company and his experience and visionary philosophy help guide its clients — network and cable, movie studios, major league sports franchises, as well as internet and technology media enterprises.

His tenure within public broadcasting included serving as EVP of Corporate Affairs at WNET in New York and Program Officer at the Ford Foundation. As Executive Director of Media and Society Seminars at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, he co-created, wrote, and produced with Fred Friendly, over 100 hours of award winning programming on wide ranging public policy issues.

In his capacity as a lawyer, he served as Assistant General Counsel of National Educational Television (NET), Assistant to the Director of Business Affairs at CBS News, the Director of Business Affairs for the Public Television Broadcast Laboratory and Sesame Workshop, and attorney at the FCC.

Stuart has also spent some time in academia lecturing extensively on communications and telecommunications at colleges and universities around the world. He’s also a contributing writer and editor to many esteemed publications, and is Program Committee Chair, 92Y.

Stuart is a walking encyclopedia, particularly when it comes to history, religion, sports, or movie trivia. Despite his accomplishments, Stuart is most proud of his self-assigned title — that of cycling enthusiast.

Erik’s deft and efficient hand is leading Sucherman Group through an ever-changing media and entertainment landscape with his astute understanding of media strategy, business trends, best practices, and most importantly, future developments.

Erik started out in radio, but soon moved to TV, becoming station manager at KCBS, before climbing the CBS ladder to become Executive Producer of “CBS This Morning,” and then Executive Producer at “CBS Evening News with Dan Rather.” He went on to create and produce “Day & Date” for Group W in syndication. He also served as EVP, Programming for Court TV.

Erik was President and GM of MSNBC and was also a board member for msnbc.com. After leaving NBC, he formed Triple Threat Television, producing programs for ESPN, TLC, MTV, and CNBC. In October 2007, he was named CEO of Vault.com, growing the website and on-line business into a cross-platform leader.

Erik has received more than 20 Emmys, as well as a Peabody award. He’s a husband, a father, an avid lacrosse fan, and enjoys skiing, golf, and road biking.

Bridget Ruane

Bridget’s dual role as Managing Director and Senior Consultant leverages her brilliance, attention to detail and thoroughness in the coordination and management of our key disciplines of consulting and executive placement.

She supervises research, and heads up projects that require comprehensive industry insights that integrate design studies, due diligence projects, industry benchmarking, and in-depth trend analysis. She has also played an integral role in the placement of senior executives across all industry disciplines.

Bridget has a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and is a closet nerd with a penchant for epic fantasy fables like Lord Of The Rings.

Richard Tackenberg

Rich’s multi-faceted array of expertise on multi-platform programming is a vital asset to our Consulting and Search operations, particularly within the digital realm.

Rich was an early visionary in the development of digital entertainment, with a key role as VP in the launch of AOL’s Entertainment Asylum. His degree of expertise within the digital entertainment media space is expansive and includes development of original content for Rush It Network, Hotpoint Media, as well as multi-platform content at Creative Light Development.

Rich’s knowledge of the digital entertainment space, his experience as a media consultant, and his skill at executive and C-Suite placement in every aspect of the entertainment industry make him an invaluable asset to our West Coast operations.

Comedy nerd and gadget geek, Rich has seen EVERY episode of SNL since 1986.

Charles Gould

Charles handles all new business for Sucherman’s sports and entertainment clients, both domestically and abroad. Prior to joining the company, Charles built a search practice within Stephen Ross’ RSE Ventures (the entity that owns, among others, the Miami Dolphins and ICC soccer tournament). His career has included work on behalf of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Raptor Group, Teneo, USA Rugby, Relevent Sports, F.C. Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain F.C., Dentsu Aegis Network and Chime Communications. Previously, Charles worked at Lygon Group in London, a boutique search firm focused on board-level and C-suite searches, for almost three years before joining RSE Ventures. Early in his career, Charles was an executive search consultant in the financial services sector working with clients such as Barclays Capital and J.P. Morgan.

Simon Pollock


Truly Global. Industry Veteran. Expert.

As Managing Director, Simon represents Sucherman Group outside the US market. He is based in London, but travels extensively to visit clients all over the world. Simon’s extensive experience in the media industry qualifies him to consult with entertainment companies and to help identify and recruit top executive talent.

Simon started his career in Nashville, TN, hosting a local radio show while also selling advertising time. He returned to London in 1990 to work for Disney where he launched a very successful barter division exchanging programming for advertising time which developed significant revenues from the then emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe. Simon then worked for Sony Pictures Television where he also developed a global barter division, as well as running the London television distribution office. He then worked for A&E Television Networks establishing an office in London and was responsible for launching and managing The History Channel throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Simon was a non-executive director on the board of the Middle Eastern pay TV platform OSN, and is currently a non-executive director on the board of MAI, the leading Denver-based media audit specialist.

Simon speaks Spanish and French and lives in London. He is a father, an intrepid traveller, and oenophile.

Mary Moore

Mary’s intuition for perfect placement for top-level executives is second to none. It not only requires a thorough understanding of the business, but also a comprehensive understanding of what makes people who are at the top of their game, tick.

Her background in affiliate sales, consumer products and event marketing at ESPN, and Human Resources experience at Disney Publishing Worldwide, gives her the ideal qualities and skillset required for executive career development within the entertainment sphere.

A Manhattanite for more than 20 years, this Pilates convert is also fascinated by the real estate industry and enjoys keeping in touch with her small-town roots in Litchfield County, Connecticut.

Christina Sampaio

Christina plays a critical role in our West Coast operations. Not only is she well-versed in the development of human capital, but also the creative process — a rarity within the industry.

Christina developed and produced television series for Fox, Spike, BET, and Oxygen; held executive roles at The Samuel Goldwyn Company, TVA, and The G Group; and was on staff at Comedy Central’s “Win Ben Stein’s Money” and HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

A UCLA graduate, Christina was her high school’s valedictorian, and keeps her mind sharp doing New York Times Crosswords and watching TED talks. On days off you can find her doing yoga or playing at the beach with her two darling daughters, husband, and dog, Huckleberry.

Phillis Ward-Sumter

Phillis fearlessly tackles all accounting and financial matters at Sucherman Group with an analytical and organized approach. Now enjoying the media and entertainment industry, she began her accounting career with Burberry as an Accounts Payable Clerk before becoming a Junior Accountant at Art Partner, a leading artist management and creative content agency.

Phillis is a native New Yorker who enjoys exploring the Northeast area with friends, visiting family, or savoring a great meal paired with a fine red wine. Dedicated to her health and fitness regimen, she is a regular at the local gym or Pilates studio.

Deborah Horowitz


Poised. Perceptive. Professional.

Debbie serves as the voice of sage reason in her role as General Counsel and Senior Consultant at SG. She also happens to be a brilliant coordinator in her role as Chief Administrative Officer. Debbie’s area of expertise also includes technology and interactive media.

Prior to her arrival at Sucherman Group, she wound up a decade at Viacom as Associate General Counsel, after heading the legal team overseeing Viacom’s Technology and Interactive Media divisions. She began her legal gig at Viacom in corporate finance, banking, security, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, labor and real estate matters following a stint in private practice. She also has a MA in Public Affairs and spent a decade working in the public sector.

An NYU Law grad, Debbie is a native New Yorker who loves Hawaii (who doesn’t?!), loves to read (from tech to Tolstoy) and is a news junkie — especially when her son is on-air.

Ed Horowitz

Ed brings a broad range of C-suite business and operational experience in media, telecommunications, and financial services. His specific areas of expertise include technology, business development, strategy, marketing, and content management and distribution.

Ed has extensive knowledge in virtually every facet of enterprise management on a domestic and international basis. He has been involved at a Board or executive leadership level with innovative start-ups, multi-national media conglomerates, nonprofits, as well as serving as a consultant to governmental departments regarding public policy issues and regulations. Ed launched his career as a “cable guy” at TelePrompTer and held senior management and executive committee positions at Time Warner (HBO), Viacom, Citigroup and SES Americom.

Throughout his career, he has implemented successful business strategies that leverage technology to open markets and bring compelling content worldwide. He has also been a leader in establishing global standards for a number of technology issues, including digital compression and the production and transmission of high definition television.

Ed has served on the Board of several global companies, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Globecomm Systems, Inc., and as Board Commissioner to Indonesian broadband operator, LinkNet Tbk PT. He also serves as a Trustee to NYSci (New York Hall of Science), and the American Management Association.

In August 2015, Ed was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Board of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet.gov). In 2011, he was inducted into the Society of Satellite Professional International (SSPI) Hall of Fame, and has won many prestigious industry awards including NCTA’s Vanguard Award, Gartner Group’s Excellence in Technology Award, and Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories President’s Special Award for innovation.

Ed enjoys travelling, downhill skiing, spending time with his friends and family, and asking anyone he meets, “What have you done today to advance mankind?”

David Mulhern


Articulate. Commentator. Radiohead.

Dave’s been adding some top-spin to our Executive Search engagements since 2011 with an unwavering level of focus and energy to the firm with a constant eye on delivering “wins.” His sports-related career began at Wasserman Media Group, a sports marketing company, leveraging years of on-air sports radio experience at multiple ESPN Radio outlets, plus four years as WKCR 89.9 FM’s on-air sports commentator at his alma mater, Columbia University.

He found the perfect combination of work and pleasure during his position at WKCR, attending sporting events and providing on-air commentary. Dave left impressive shoes to fill as host and panelist on Columbia’s weekly sports-talk show “The Firing Lion.” Dave also served as writer and lead editor for the DailyTailgate, a digital sports portal and lifestyle trends report.

A former member of the Varsity Lightweight Rowing team, Dave did a stint in the LA office but returned East to root for every Philly sports team. East Coast loyalties aside, he rates In-N-Out over Shake Shack.

Alan Bassani


Analytic. Digital. Content Devourer.

Alan brings six years of media experience and a lifetime of media passion to Sucherman Group. Working out of the New York office, Alan specializes in research and analysis, applying industry trends and insights to projects that help guide clients towards strategic business outcomes. He also aids in executive search processes through benchmarking and diligence.

Prior to joining Sucherman, Alan received an MBA from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, with concentrations in Marketing and Management. While at Wharton, he interned at Fatherly, a digital media company in New York, and consulted with additional tech startups in the Philadelphia area. His graduate school experience followed, and built upon, four years with the CBS News Marketing Group where he worked in a production capacity to promote the launch of CBSN, special events such as election coverage and breaking news broadcasts, and existing legacy programs such as 60 Minutes and Face the Nation.

A major entertainment aficionado, Alan lives and breathes television, film, music and New York-based sports teams. In his free time (not spent on the couch consuming the above), he likes to travel, ski, golf, play tennis, and spend quality time with his family.
